PEOPLE ARE ROASTING GPT-5
Big promises, weird graphs, and a lot of “huh?” moments
Hey friends,
So GPT-5 is finally here. OpenAI hyped it up like it was gonna be a pocket genius in your phone.
And yeah… the launch was a bit of a rollercoaster.
They spent most of the event showing fancy charts about how “close to human intelligence” it is now. The problem? Some slides had 50% looking smaller than 47%. Kinda hard to take the “science” seriously after that.
Then people started testing it. And just hours after launch, Twitter was full of clips where GPT-5 got super basic stuff wrong - like confidently saying humans have the wrong number of fingers. Oof.
Even the die-hard OpenAI fans started switching sides mid-livestream. Google’s AI bets on Polymarket jumped from 30% to 80% in minutes.

The fine print they didn’t brag about
Knowledge base still only goes up to 2024, not 2025.
Everyone gets GPT-5 now, even free users - which is cool, but also makes you wonder if they’ll quietly swap in cheaper models to save costs.
They killed the “choose your model” button. Now, if you want it to think harder, you’re supposed to literally type “Think carefully” in your prompt. Progress? Debatable.
At the end of the day, GPT-5 feels like a nice refresh, not a mind-blowing leap. A bit faster, a bit sharper, a couple of new toys.
What do you think? Is this actual progress or just OpenAI keeping the hype alive?
